Data Privacy Day

Respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust is the theme for this year’s Data Privacy Day, an international effort held annually on January 28th to create awareness about the importance of privacy and protecting personal information.

A day of content..

We’re delighted to be supporting the drive towards more effective data privacy. Our day of content will help you to help increase awareness and create a culture of privacy at your organisation.

Our CTO Jason McFall will be discussing how you can innovate with data, whilst maintaining a strong focus on customer privacy, and Guy Cohen, our Strategy & Policy Lead will be discussing the strategy and crucial considerations for de-identifying data

The two sessions are both interactive, so we hope to see you in the audience with your questions!

About Data Privacy Day

Millions of people are unaware of and uninformed about how their personal information is being used, collected or shared in our digital society. Data Privacy Day aims to inspire dialogue and empower individuals and companies to take action.

Data Privacy Day, observed annually on Jan 28, began in the United States and Canada in January 2008 as an extension of the Data Protection Day celebration in Europe. Data Protection Day commemorates the Jan. 28, 1981, signing of Convention 108, the first legally binding international treaty dealing with privacy and data protection.

The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) officially leads the Data Privacy Day campaign and is advised by a distinguished advisory committee of privacy professionals to help the campaign align with the most current privacy issues in a thoughtful and meaningful way.

Data Privacy Day is the signature event in a greater privacy awareness and education effort. Year-round, NCSA educates consumers on how they can own their online presence and shows organizations how privacy is good for business. NCSA’s privacy awareness campaign is an integral component of STOP. THINK. CONNECT. ™ ‒ the global online safety, security and privacy campaign.
